Background Information

A Web Serial, written by author Wildbow, that has started in June 2011 and is finished, as of November 19, 2013. It's the story of Taylor Hebert, a 'parahuman' with the ability to control bugs, who strives to be a superhero and finds herself in an utterly grey and pitch black world.
A very dark (without being edgy), very good series that you'd do yourself a favor to get into. It is however ridiculously long, amassing approximately 1.6 million words (that's a lot of books). You can read it here
This page will, as is to be expected, be spoiler-ish.

Standing in the Battledome

The series is very big on the versatility and sheer number of different powers. Powers generally include reality warping, manipulation of matter, energy, dimensions, space-time (especially time), gravity and nifty things like mindfuck on a city wide scale as well as invincibility and precognition, including the absolutely ridiculous 'Path to Victory'.

A major drawback of the verse, is the fact that most characters are pretty standard in human terms, heavily limiting its firepower. Another is a psychological barrier which prevents most from using their powers on humans or living matter in general.

Going further on the scale, we get to city busting qualities, macro-hydrokinesis (creating tsunamis and so forth), obliterating countries and shattering continents by the Endbringers and Scion, the latter, in his peak, able to destroy planets (and, depending on interpretation much, much more)
Further supplementing the verse are the tinkers, people whose superpowers are to utilize information given by their powers and build technological devices which are far beyond the capabilities of modern humanity.
